Good news, ladies! Railways finally allow women to ride Mumbai suburban trains starting tomorrow

In a much needed relief to women travelers From across the city to Mumbai and suburban areas, the Railways have finally given them the go-ahead to ride the local suburban trains.

The decision comes two days after the exchanges of letters between Railways and the state government, after the latter requested permission to travel.

Initially, the local train The daily commute for all women was to begin on October 17, however, the Railways forwarded the state government’s proposal to the Railroad Board, stating the COVID-19 protocol and the requirement to maintain social distancing.

Following that, the Union Minister of Railways made the announcement today after he held a meeting with officials from the Railroad Board to review the progress of various ongoing works related to the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC).

“I am pleased to announce that the railroads will allow women to ride suburban trains starting October 21 between 11 AM and 3 PM AND after 7 PM AND after 7 PM. travel, “he said Piyush Goyal.

With this, women commuters who do not fall into the essential categories and who have been spending long hours and a lot of money to travel, are greatly relieved.

The decision is the first step the government takes to make services available to all amid growing demand from all sectors.

Until now, services were only available to those who fell into essential categories. Taking into account the increasing crowds, the government has also allowed subway trains in Mumbai.
