Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, who turns 25 today, changed the rules of the game when it was released in 1995. In addition to bringing a new wave of cinema that highlighted NRI’s sensibilities on the Indian screen, DDLJ also gave us one of the hottest jodis Bollywood darlings: Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol.

DDLJ, directed by Aditya Chopra, also boasted an incredible star cast with names like Amrish Puri, Anupam Kher, and Farida Jalal. Here’s a look at what the cult film actors are up to these days.

Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge made Shah Rukh Khan one of the most successful stars in Bollywood. The actor went on to star in several box office hits after DDLJ. Shah Rukh has yet to sign his next film after 2018 dud Zero.

DDLJ established Kajol as a top actor. He went on to offer hits like Gupt, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Dushman, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Fanaa, My Name Is Khan, among others. In her second entry, Kajol has not hesitated to experiment and is a constant figure in films financed by her husband Ajay Devgn.

Bollywood icon Amrish Puri played Kajol’s father in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. After DDLJ, he was a part of such films as Jeet, Ghatak, Koyla, Chachi 420, Virasat, Baadshah, Gadar, Nayak, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, and Aitraaz. She passed away in 2005 and her last film, Kisna, released a week after her passing.

Post-DDLJ, seasoned actor Farida Jalal appeared in such films as Judaai, Dil To Pagal Hai, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Pukar, Kya Kehna, and Zubeidaa, among others. Jalal was last seen in Jawaani Jaaneman (2020). She is currently more active on television having appeared on shows such as Shararat, Balika Vadhu, and Ammaji Ki Galli. He made his digital debut with YRF’s Love Shots.

After DDLJ, Anupam Kher starred in such films as Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Kya Kehna, Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge, Rang De Basanti, Jaan-E-Mann, Special 26, Hotel Mumbai, and The Accidental. . Prime Minister among others. He has also been part of international projects such as Bend It Like Beckham, Lust, Caution and Silver Linings Playbook, in addition to the British television program The Boy With The Topknot and the American television program New Amsterdam.

Himani Shivpuri (Kammo Kaur)

From Judwaa to Hero No. 1, Hum Saath Saath Hain, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Main Hoon Na, and Ra.One, Satish Shah has made dozens of movies after DDLJ. He was also seen as Indravadan Sarabhai on the Sarabhai vs Sarabhai television show and was a part of Comedy Circus. Stay active.

Pooja Ruparel (Rajeshwari Singh also known as Chutki)

Pooja Ruparel, who played Kajol’s younger sister on DDLJ, has been selective about her work. His projects after DDLJ are the movie X: Past Is Present and the TV show Zabaan Sambhalke. Today, Pooja is more active in the theater. He has also tried his hands on singing and stand-up comedy.

Parmeet Sethi (Kuljeet)

Parmeet Sethi’s films after DDLJ include Dhadkan, Lakshya, Dil Dhadakne Do, and Laila Majnu. He became a director in 2010 with Badmaash Company. Sethi has also done several television shows in the early 2000s. His recent web shows are Special OPS and Hundred.

Mandira Bedi (Preeti)

Mandira took it easy after DDLJ, appearing in a handful of movies like Dus Kahaniyaan, Vodka Diaries, The Tashkent Files, and Saaho. On television, he went on to do Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin, CID and 24, in addition to various reality shows. A fitness fanatic, Mandira was last seen on the web series Smoke.

Achala Sachdev (grandmother)

After DDLJ, Achala Sachdev played a matriarch in such films as Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Na Tum Jaano Na Hum, and Kal Ho Naa Ho. He died in 2012.

Anaita Shroff Adajania (Sheena)

Anaita became one of Bollywood’s leading stylists and costume designers. He has designed looks for films such as the Dhoom franchise, Being Cyrus, Love Aaj Kal, Ra.One, Cocktail, Race 2, Bang Bang, and Dear Zindagi. She is married to filmmaker Homi Adajania.

Karan Johar (Rocky)

Karan Johar played SRK’s friend on DDLJ. In addition to taking the reins of film production company Dharma Productions, he has also directed such films as Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, My Name Is Khan, Student of the Year, and Bombay Talkies. Karan also became a host of the celebrity talk show Koffee With Karan. The filmmaker was also seen as a judge on reality shows like Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, India’s Got Talent, and India’s Next Superstars.
