Actress Mandira Bedi, who played the role of Preeti Singh in the film, shared a post from then and now about 25 years of DDLJ: “It is wonderful to have been part of a film that has made history in cinema in many ways. I have changed a lot, life has changed a lot. But red is still the color of love,” he wrote. Mandira also tagged her co-stars, Shah Rukh and Kajol, saying, “I want to see some of all of you.”
Old photos of DDLJ The sets have also been shared by Anupam Kher, who was cast as Shah Rukh’s father, and Anaita Shroff Adajania, who played the role of one of Kajol’s best friends.
I was in college when Adi and Karan asked me to help them choose my friends from college to play Raj and Simrin’s friends in the movie. This was my introduction to the film industry, a world I knew nothing about at the time. In the process, they convinced me to play Sheena. I did it to laugh and spend a paid vacation in Europe with my best friend, which was a big deal for a bankrupt student. I remember arriving in Saanen, a small town in Switzerland, fresh off the bus (ok plane) and seeing Shahrukh in his black suit on a little bridge … and for me it felt like he was there just for me! I’m sure whoever saw him on that bridge felt the same, that’s why he’s Shahrukh. Kajol was simply Kajol: real, instinctive, full of love (and still gives the strongest hugs of all time). You have to remember that these were times when there were no entourages, no managers, no mobiles, no social networks … making films was much simpler, but extremely exciting. Once we were there, we were cut off from the rest of the world for over a month. We would all live together, we would eat together, we would sing together, we would dance together … we became a real family, under the warm gaze of a legend like Uncle Yash (Yash Chopra). Adi knew the DDLJ from its core and strived for nothing less than perfection. We all hang out and help each other in a way that only friends and families do. I never had acting ambitions (thankfully), I’m very happy to have been a part of this brilliant movie and to be able to call everyone I worked with a friend. I am very happy to have been a small part of this huge legacy. # DDLJ25 # 25yearsofDDLJ @yrf #adityachopra
