New Delhi:
First, a very happy Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge day. Today is a special day like the iconic DDLJ released on October 20, 25 years ago. Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge established the Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan jodi as an enduring example of classic Bollywood romance and nothing seems to have changed even after 25 years. Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol started celebrating the big day by changing their social media profile photos to their on-screen characters from DDLJ – Shah Rukh dedicated his Twitter nickname to Raj Malhotra, while Kajol is Simran on Twitter now. Re-share a video from DDLJ Moments posted by Yash Raj Films, Shah Rukh tweeted: “25 years! Full of gratitude to you for loving Raj and Simran, with all your heart. This always feels special.”

Meanwhile, Kajol added, “Raj and Simran! 2 people, 1 movie, 25 years and love just keeps coming. I’m really thankful to all the people who made this what it is today … a phenomenon and a part of his own story. Fans! Big shout out to all of you! “
Raj and Simran!

Actor Anupam Kher, who played the role of Raj Malhotra’s father, who is referred to as “Pops” in the film, also shared an emotional note on Instagram, along with loads of photos from the film’s sets: ” Proud to be a part of this iconic film that turns 25 today. Yes, your love has been a constant !! Thank you so much! “
Stylist Anaita Shroff Adajania, who is now Vogue India’s fashion director, appears as one of Simran’s best friends in the film. Celebrating 25 years of DDLJ, Anaita shared an interesting story about being cast for the film by director Aditya Chopra and Karan Johar, who introduced herself as one of Raj Malhotra’s friends: “I did it for a laugh and a paid vacation in Europe with my best friend, who it was really a great thing for a bankrupt student, “he wrote.
I was in college when Adi and Karan asked me to help them choose my friends from college to play Raj and Simrin’s friends in the movie. This was my introduction to the film industry, a world I knew nothing about at the time. In the process, they convinced me to play Sheena. I did it to laugh and spend a paid vacation in Europe with my best friend, which was a big deal for a bankrupt student. I remember arriving in Saanen, a small town in Switzerland, fresh off the bus (ok plane) and seeing Shahrukh in his black suit on a little bridge … and for me it felt like he was there just for me! I’m sure whoever saw him on that bridge felt the same, that’s why he’s Shahrukh. Kajol was simply Kajol: real, instinctive, full of love (and still gives the strongest hugs of all time). You have to remember that these were times when there were no entourages, no managers, no mobiles, no social networks … making films was much simpler, but extremely exciting. Once we were there, we were cut off from the rest of the world for over a month. We would all live together, we would eat together, we would sing together, we would dance together … we became a real family, under the warm gaze of a legend like Uncle Yash (Yash Chopra). Adi knew the DDLJ from its core and strived for nothing less than perfection. We all hang out and help each other in a way that only friends and families do. I never had acting ambitions (thankfully), I’m very happy to have been a part of this brilliant movie and to be able to call everyone I worked with a friend. I am very happy to have been a small part of this huge legacy. # DDLJ25 # 25yearsofDDLJ @yrf #adityachopra
