A Chinese soldier was detained by security forces in the Chumar-Demchok area of Ladakh and detained by the Indian army, officials said on Monday.

India and China have been involved in a border clash on the Royal Line of Control in Ladakh since May. The tension escalated on June 19 when 20 Indian soldiers were killed during a clash with Chinese troops in the Galwan Valley. There have been seven rounds of military and diplomatic talks between the two countries to resolve the confrontation so far.
India and China are expected to hold the eighth round of diplomatic and military talks next week on disengagement in the Ladakh theater. Senior officials said they said that both sides have decided to keep the channels of dialogue open both at the military commander level and at the diplomatic level.
