Covid-19: Certain Districts in Some States Witness Community Transmission, Government Says | India News


NEW DELHI: Minister of Health Harsh Vardhan on Sunday he said that certain districts in some states are witnessing community broadcasting, but that “it is not happening across the country.”
“In different pockets in various states, including west bengal, community transmission of Covid-19 is expected to occur, especially in densely populated areas. However, this is not happening across the country. Community broadcasting is limited to certain districts and occurs in a limited number of states, ”Vardhan said in response to a question during their ‘Sunday Samvaad’ social media interaction.

The answer was with reference to West Bengal CM Mamata banerjeeObservation that there are cases of community transmission in your state. The participant asked the Minister of Health which states have witnessed community transmission of the viral disease.
So far, the Center has argued that there is only localized community transmission limited to some areas reporting clusters of cases, as most of the case burden is still limited to certain states and districts. Containment strategies have been said to be designed to limit localized transmission.
About 79% of the 61,871 new cases were detected in 10 states on Saturday. Similarly, while the total number of active cases in the country has fallen below 8 lakh, only three states: Maharashtra, Karnataka and Kerala – they have more than 50,000 active cases each.
