A total of three Super Overs they were thrown in two games during Sunday’s double game. While Kolkata Knight Riders came home in the Super Over against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Abu Dhabi, the competition between the Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab in Dubai had to be decided via a second Super Over after the first was tied. Lockie Ferguson was the star of KKR, bowling with extreme rhythm and aggro to pick up figures of 4-0-15-3 in his first game this season. When scores were tied at 163, he conceded just 2/2 pins against Abdul Samad and David Warner in the Super Over. It was the lowest Super Over score in IPL equaling KXIP against Delhi Capitals earlier in the season.
KKR Squad for a Win it was very similar to MI and DC: choose very fast bowlers. Brendon McCullum, in an interview on the sidelines, confirmed that the two teams at the top of the table were indeed an inspiration. We could see more and more teams do this, when the expectation going into the season was for the effects to dominate. But 35 games inside and all six of the top seven outfield takers are pacemakers shooting 140+ or more.
It was KXIP’s third win this season And it didn’t come without drama They haven’t had it easy so far this season and they haven’t found a way to make it easy in the near future either. It’s been such a season for KXIP: what should have been dramatic has now become predictable. The art of losing is not difficult to master, apparently.
KKR starter Rahul Tripathi has been booked for a Level 1 violation of the IPL code of conduct during the game against SRH The IPL press release did not specify the reason for the violation of the code but stated that Tripathi violated section 2.3, which corresponds to contrary conduct to the spirit of the game. Tripathi has accepted his sanction.
Why did Kane Williamson open against KKR?SRH bowling coach Muttiah Muralitharan confirmed that the batting positions of Williamson and David Warner were swapped due to injury issues. Williamson had left the field during the first inning with what looked like a hamstring injury. He fought that as he hit, finishing 29 of 19 on a fast start for his side.
Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals to meet tonight. Both teams stagger in the bottom half of the points table, with six losses in their nine games so far. Abu Dhabi has embraced fast bowlers like nowhere else at this IPL (as the Mumbai Indians have shown), so Sam Curran will have to pass the Jofra Archer test tonight. Dwayne Bravo’s injury against DC means CSK must reflect on its resources to play to the death.
Sunil Narine has been authorized by the IPL Suspicious Bowling Action Committee and removed from the Suspicious Actions Warning List. He was reported for suspicious action after the match against Kings XI Punjab in Abu Dhabi and, although he could continue to play, he risked being suspended if he was reported a second time. KKR, however, did not align him against SRH despite clearance.
