Royal Challengers Bangalore opening batsman Aaron Finch was seen vaping in the locker room. The incident took place during the match between RCB and Rajasthan Royals.
ABOUT THE INCIDENT
During the close of the match between RCB and RR, it was a tense situation on the ground. The tension was also evident in the two changing rooms.
In the midst of all of this, the camera swiveled into RCB’s dressing room and Aaron Finch was found fuming.
The player is suspected of being vaping inside the locker room while with Shahbaz Ahmed. The video went viral on social media platforms and Twitter was filled with reactions.
THE REACTIONS
Several people questioned the legality of vaping in the locker room. Others seemed confused about whether or not Finch was vaping.
Many people also questioned how Finch could vape in the dressing room, as the fate of the match was hanging by a thread. However, the IPL governing body has not declared anything in this regard. We will have to wait for a verdict, if any, in the next few days.
ABOUT THE RULES
As far as the rules go, there is no such prescribed limit on vaping in cricket. The IPL governing body has yet to make any decisions or steps in regards to the rules within the dressing room.
So in this case, neither RCB nor Finch can be put in the guilty position. However, now it will be seen if the governing body takes any action against the player or the team.
ABOUT THE MATCH
The match was one of the closest encounters seen on IPL this year. RR hit first and put up a decent total on the board. They scored 177 for the loss of six wickets.
Steve Smith scored 57 runs on 36 balls and Robin Uthappa entered with 41 runs in 22 deliveries.
In response, RCB batters matched the fight total. Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal scored 43 runs of 32 balls and 35 of 37 respectively. However, veteran Protea hitter AB De Villiers was the star of the show as he helped RCB win the game by 7 wickets.
De Villiers was in his prime and played every shot possible to get the Royal Challengers over the line. He scored a staggering 55 runs on just 22 balls and took the opposition bowling alley by storm. It was a pleasure to watch him hit and he deservedly won the Man of the Match award.
