NEW DELHI: The Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) on Sunday expressed disappointment with Republic Network for revealing and misrepresenting their private and confidential communication.
In a statement, he said that he has not commented on the ongoing investigation and is providing necessary assistance to the investigation into the ratings manipulation scam.
“BARC India is very disappointed in the Republic Network’s actions in disclosing private and confidential communications and misrepresenting them. BARC India reiterates that it has not commented on the ongoing investigation and without prejudice to the rights of BARC India, expresses its dismay at the actions of the Republic Network, ”the rating agency said.
The statement came in response to the Republic Network’s claim that an email from BARC contradicts allegations made by Mumbai Police Chief Param Bir Singh.
The false assumption TRP scam It came to light when BARC filed a police complaint through Hansa Research Group, alleging that certain channels were manipulating TRP’s numbers to attract advertisers.

In the ongoing investigation into the scam, Mumbai police have so far arrested six people for allegedly influencing the ratings.

BARC had said Saturday that its efforts are currently targeting “individuals” responsible for breaking into homes to influence data.

Meanwhile, ARG Outlier Media Pvt Ltd, owner of Republic TV, and its editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami moved the Bombay high court to quash the FIR filed against the channel in the alleged fake TRP scam. The petition has also sought an address to transfer the case to the CBI.
