New Delhi: Union Interior Minister Amit Shah said on Saturday that Nitish Kumar will be Bihar’s next chief minister after the upcoming assembly elections in the state.
Shah also said that the NDA will get a two-thirds majority in the polls.
“There is no yes or no. Nitish Kumar will be Bihar’s next chief minister. We have made a public announcement and we are committed to him,” he told CNN News18 when asked if the BJP will reclaim the post of chief minister in Bihar. if the saffron party gets more seats than the ally JD (U) headed by Nitish Kumar.
Shah said that the people of Bihar will have a “twin-engine” government: one in Bihar headed by Nitish Kumar and one in the Center headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Speaking about the Lok Janshakti Party’s break with the ruling alliance in Bihar, Shah said the party was offered adequate seats, but still backed away from the alliance.
“It was their (LJP) decision, not ours,” he said.
