The Delhi High Court Bar Association (DHCBA) on Saturday, in a complaint to the Police Commissioner, said that members of its Executive Committee, including the chairman of the bar association, received threatening calls shortly after passing a resolution. condemning Jagan Mohan Reddy, Prime Minister of Andhra Pradesh. accusations against Supreme Court Justice NV Ramana.

Reddy in his letter had previously alleged that Judge Ramana “has been influencing the High Court (Andhra Pradesh) sessions, including the list of few honorable judges.” The letter also referred to the alleged “proximity” of Judge Ramana to the leader of the TDP and former chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

In the October 14 ruling, the DHCBA said Reddy’s wording of the letter and its circulation in the public domain is “a dishonest attempt to intimidate the judiciary.” He further said that the letter “unjustly and without reason” casts criticism on the “alleged conduct” of Judge Ramana and the judges of the Andhra Pradesh High Court.

In the complaint sent to the police on Saturday, the honorary secretary of the DHCBA, attorney Abhijat, said that he received a call on his mobile phone on October 15 and the caller, who identified himself as the secretary of the “Indian Association from the UK ”, he informed her that he was calling from London. Shortly after asking Abhijat about the resolution, the caller began abusing him in Hindi, according to the complaint.

Bar Association President and Chief Advocate Mohit Mathur and Bar Association Treasurer Mohit Gupta also received similar threats, Abhijat said in the complaint.

The resolution was published with the signatures of Abhijat as the honorary secretary of the DHCBA.

“The threat to my life and limbs from the caller was clearly to make me give up on my duties as Hony. Secretary of the Delhi High Court Bar Association sincerely and without fear. The aforementioned threatening call also undermined the independence of the judicial institution of which I am a part, being an official of the Courts, ”says the complaint, while seeking the investigation of the matter.
