Sushant Singh Rajput fans kick off tribute event in Kolkata, friend Ganesh leads rituals

Sushant Singh Rajput fans have been relentless in the battle for ‘justice’ as the IWC continued its investigation and have carried forward the momentum when the actor’s death completed four months. After hosting numerous events over the past weeks, the ‘SSRians’ have now started a ‘Padyatra’, conducting rituals and marches for their beloved star. The last events were held in memory of Sushant in Kolkata on Saturday when the city kicked off the Durga Puja festivities.

Sushant Singh Rajput honored in Kolkata

After tribute events were held in Patna, Sushant’s hometown on the occasion of the four months of his death on October 14, and another in Varanasi, the next day, it was Kolkata’s turn to ‘get up for Justice’.

Sushant’s friends, choreographer Ganesh Hiwarkar and Smita Parikh had been urging the actor’s fans in Kolkata to join the movement in large numbers.

Ganesh, who was at the forefront of events in Patna and Varanasi, also started the rituals in Calcutta. In images and videos that have appeared on Twitter, Ganesh, wearing an SSR shirt, can be seen performing rituals at the Kali ghat near the Kali Temple. Banners with images of SSR, seeking “justice” for him and calling him “satyagraha” and a “world movement” adorned the place.

The day’s program includes a Durga Puja for Sushant, Padyatra and door-to-door distribution of leaflets and a candlelight march towards the end. The ‘Padyatra’ is set to conclude in a grand way in Kolkata. This is apart from Sushant images created by some artists in Durga Puja pandals.

Sushant’s sister, Shweta Singh Kirti, who lives in the United States, had previously expressed her joy at the fan movement. When the Navratri festival began, he remembered his mother and hoped that everyone would receive the strength of the divine. He also posted an SSR tweet from last year with Swami Vivekanand’s quote and the image of Goddess Durga on the occasion.
