Quinton de Kock was man of the match when the Mumbai Indians (MI) outright beat Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 2020 IPL match on Friday, but there was one thing he did that made some of the MI staff they were ‘going crazy,’ IM head coach Mahela Jayawardene said after the game.

De Kock came out to bat in his training gear and was seen pulling his match jersey down over an orange jersey, which he had forgotten to change into.

When De Kock and Rohit Sharma were seen coming out to bat in pursuit, the South African was suddenly seen running towards the dugout. However, since time was possibly a limitation, he was seen returning to join Rohit again, adjusting his match jersey to hide an orange band being displayed.

Rohit Sharma, waiting and watching his opening partner’s bewilderment, burst out laughing.

After the game, with De Kock’s 78 on 44 balls leading MI to a complete 8 wicket victory with three overs to spare, MI head coach Jayawardene said: “Aside from Quinny hitting in his hands-on, everything else was pretty decent. “

In a video that was uploaded by IM on Twitter, Jayawardene told De Kock: “Okay, don’t do that again because the marketing guys are going crazy, people have gone crazy too.”
