AGRA: A BJP leader was shot dead in Uttar PradeshFirozabad on Friday. Three assailants on bicycles had opened fire on Dayashankar gupta out of your store late on Friday night.
At least three people, including lead defendant Viresh Tomar, have been detained and are being questioned, Police Superintendent Sachindra Patel said.
Dayashankar Gupta, who was Mandal’s vice president, was leaving after closing his store when he was attacked in a local market. He was rushed to a nearby hospital.
Shortly after the incident, a protest by some family members and supporters broke out near the hospital, where he was rushed, to demand the arrest of the accused. Some protesters also tried to block a road in Agra.
According to the locals, Viresh Tomar had recently joined the BJP. Dayashankar Gupta was not happy about this.
(City) Police Superintendent Mukesh Kumar Mishra said: “Viresh Tomar recently had a heated exchange with Dayashankar on Facebook. Viresh Tomar’s uncle had previously contested the election of the local body from Ratigarhi village in Firozabad against Dayashankar, and he he had won the elections. The matter is being investigated in detail. ”
