'I thought I was an alien': Iron Man's balloon causes panic in UP Town

Police said the reason behind the anxiety among the people was the unusual shape of the balloon.

Noida:

A balloon in the shape of the fictional comic character Iron Man that was released into the skies sparked fears of an alien invasion among residents of the city of Dankaur in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, police said.

The gas-filled balloon, which resembled a robot due to its Iron Man build, was spotted over the city early Saturday morning, which then landed in a canal near the village of Bhatta Parsaul. A crowd gathered at the scene to see what some thought was “an alien,” authorities said.

“It was a balloon filled with air that had risen in the sky and then came down and got stuck in the bushes along the canal. A part of the balloon was touching the water flowing in the canal, which had caused the balloon It was shaken a little bit. A little bit. Unbeknownst to the onlookers, this created an anxious vigil, “said Dankaur Police Officer Anil Kumar Pandey.

He said that one of the main reasons behind anxiety among the people was the unusual shape of the balloon.

“It was shaped like the Iron Man (fictional superhero character) given its color and design. It was an unusual sight, so some people even thought it was an alien, or something like that, and were concerned,” added Pandey.

The official said the balloon, which must have fallen when it ran out of gas, was taken out of the canal around noon.

There was nothing harmful about the object, but who dropped it into the air is still unknown, the official said.
