The ban notice states that the gathering of five or more people is prohibited in the village and surrounding areas of Phuldungsei Zampi and Zomuantlang, Mamit district, Mizoram as of October 16 and would continue until new orders are issued. Any violation of the order would be dealt with under section 188 of the IPC, which is punishable by one month in prison or a fine of Rs 200 or both and a prison term of up to six months if the violation poses a threat to life. life, health, or safety is a potential cause of law violation such as riot.
A team from the local Tripura administration led by DM Nagesh Kumar and Police Superintendent Bhanupada Chakraborty is visiting the disputed village today. An official, who did not want to be named, told indianexpress.com that Phuldungsei remains under the administrative control of Tripura and not Mizoram. The official also said the issue was addressed by Tripura with Mizoram in the highest rooms.
The clash between Tripura and Mizoram centered on the village of Phuldungse began three months ago in August when Tripura identified a dispute in the village.
A report from the local administration found that 130 villagers living in Phuldungsei village were registered in both Tripura and Mizoram and had names on the electoral rolls in both states, two ration cards, and enjoyed public welfare benefits from both. state.
The issue was first pointed out by Tripura’s royal scion Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma on social media, shortly after which the state government broached the issue.
The local administration of the North Tripura district, which maintained that Phuldungsei is part of Tripura, also found that a part of the village was shown in the Mizoram territorial area.
A letter from Kanchanpur Subdivisional Magistrate (SDM) Chandni Chandran to her superiors in August mentioned that the Phuldungsei Village Council has been added as part of the constituency as Zampui Phuldungsei.

However, Mizoram has maintained that the village is under the territorial area of the state and raised objections to the announcement of the construction of a temple and ‘community work’ in the area and called the interstate boundary as ‘disputed’.
In a letter to Tripura’s Interior Secretary, BK Sahu, Mizoram’s Interior Secretary Lalbiaksangi said that any activity carried out within the ‘disputed’ interstate border could result in public order problems and was seeking the ‘immediate and indefinite strike ‘of all kinds of work in the area. .
