“Soyeb Aftab from Odisha and Akansha Singh from Delhi scored perfect 720 on the NEET exam. However, since Aftab is higher, it has been ranked at the top of the national ranking, ”said an official.
“The candidate’s classification is initially determined based on the scores obtained in Biology and Chemistry. Then, in cases where candidates cannot be shortlisted using test scores, candidates are further shortlisted based on the number of wrong answers, and then shortlisted based on their age. The oldest has the preference ”, explained the official.

The result of the National Cum Entry Eligibility Test (NEET) was announced on Friday night with over 7.7 lakh of candidates scoring the exam.
The same tiebreaker policy has been used to decide subsequent ranks.

Tummala Snikitha (Telangana), Vineet Sharma (Rajasthan), Amrisha Khaitan (Haryana) and Guthi Chaitanya Sindhu (Andhra Pradesh) have scored 715 out of 720 points. However, they have ranked third, fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.
Similarly, those classified from 8 to 20 have obtained 710 points and those classified from 25 to 50 have obtained 705 out of 720 points.

The test was conducted on September 13 amid strict precautions against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The test was offered in 11 languages: English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Hate, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu, this year. According to the initial report, more than 77% of applicants took the test in English, about 12% in Hindi, and 11% in other languages.
The exam was previously postponed twice due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the government decided to go ahead, despite opposition from one section, to mitigate any further academic losses.
