A total of 85.6% of the nearly 16 lakh candidates who signed up for the exam turned up for the test held on September 13 after being postponed twice due to the pandemic. On October 14, 290 candidates, who missed the September exam due to Covid conditions, took the test.
Starting this year, admissions to the MBBS course at 13 All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research, Puducherry, will also be made through NEET following the amendment to the National Medical Commission Act of 2019.
The test was offered in English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Hate, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu this year. More than 77% of the applicants took the test in English, 12% in Hindi and the rest in other languages. “These tests have been conducted under unprecedented circumstances and NTA took the best possible steps to deliver a safe test,” said Vineet Joshi, NTA CEO.
