The Indian army said Thursday that it has restored the damaged grave of a decorated Pakistani officer in the Naugam sector of Jammu and Kashmir.
Chinar Corps, based in Srinagar, tweeted a photograph of the epitaph on the tomb that read: ‘In memory of Major Mohd Shabir Khan, Sitar-e-Jurrat Shahid May 5, 1972, 1630 H, killed in counterattack by 9 Sikhs’ .
“In keeping with the traditions and ethics of the #IndianArmy, #ChinarCorps resurrected a damaged grave of Major Mohd Shabir Khan, Sitara-e-Jurrat, Pakistan Army, who was killed in action (KIA) at an advanced location along from LC in Naugam Sector on May 5, 1972, “Chinar Corps posted on his Twitter account.
“A fallen soldier, regardless of the country he belongs to, deserves respect and honor in death. #IndianArmy supports this belief. This is #IndianArmy to the world,” the Army added.
