The Supreme Court on Thursday asked the Republic Media Group to go to the Bombay High Court in the Television Rating Points (TRP) scam case registered by the Mumbai Police.

The police alleged that the complaints contained in the contested FIR registered by them make it impossible to decide any crime at this stage.
“The investigation continues to advance with respect to FIR No. 143 of a year 2020. There is no exceptional circumstance whatsoever that justifies an interference by this Court in Article 32 of the Constitution,” the police said.
Mumbai Police also said that Republic TV is trying to turn the FIR in the PRT scam case into a “media spectacle”, and that the rights under Article 19 (1) (a) of the Constitution cannot act as a shield against the commission of a crime, reports LiveLaw.

In an advance petition filed in the Supreme Court last night, Mumbai police said Republic TV is abusing the legal process by running shows in the case and “intimidating witnesses,” it reports. NDTV.

Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh had claimed that three channels, including Republic TV, manipulated the PRT.
The scandal came to light when BARC, an organization that measures TRP, filed a complaint about it through Hansa Research Group Pvt Ltd, police had said.
