Nortje clocked 156 km / h, the fastest ever produced, beating its own record of 155.21 km / h. Prior to this, Notrje’s South African teammate Dale Steyn held the record, long ago, when he was part of the new Deccan Chargers, having thrown a ball at 154.5 km / h. Nortje’s record-breaking delivery returned Royals starter Jos Buttler for 22.

“Really? No idea. Hearing it for the first time,” Nortje replied after the game when asked about his record delivery. “[I’ve] I’ve been feeling it for the last few days. Good to see some results. Buttler played them very well. Maybe it was too crowded. I didn’t expect him to go for a first six ball. Perhaps I expected something more from that delivery. “Fortunately I stood my ground. We have a good coach in Ryan. Delighted to work with KG. Tushar has been working on the networks. Enjoying my experience with them. It doesn’t seem like it, but it’s stressful. It is better to be in the field than on the other side. “
Nortje’s feat came to the attention of a legendary pacemaker, one of the fastest of his time, Brett Lee. The former Australian sprinter posted an encouraging tweet appreciating Nortje’s efforts. “Very good heat from @ AnrichNortje02 156.2 km / h,” he tweeted.
Another fast bowling legend, Ian Bishop, was quick to appreciate Nortje and his ball that castled Buttler.
