Shortly after being released from detention on Tuesday, the President of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mehbooba Mufti, posted a message on Twitter saying that her party’s fight against the Center’s decision to repeal Article 370 of the Constitution will continue. .
In the audio message, he also called the removal of the article a “black decision made on a black day.”
“They release me after more than a year. During my time in detention, the black decision of black day in August 2019 continued to attack my heart, ”Mufti said in the audio clip posted with a black plaque.
“I feel that this must have been the condition of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. None of us can forget the insult of that day. Now we will have to decide that whatever the Delhi Durbar took from us by illegal means on August 5 last year, we will have to get it back, ”he further said in the video.
“We will have to continue our fight for the Kashmir issue for which thousands of our people have given their lives. I know the way forward is not easy, but our determination will help us continue on the path, ”added Mufti.
She was arrested on August 5 last year along with Farooq Abdullah from the National Conference and other leaders following the abrogation of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status. Although Abdullah was released in March this year, Mufti remained in detention after the Public Safety Act (PSA) was extended.
She was finally released Tuesday after the administration overturned the PSA charges against her.
The release of the head of the PPD comes before the expiration of the deadline set by the Supreme Court, to which her daughter Iltija Mufti had addressed with a petition for habeas corpus challenging her “illegal” detention. On September 29, the high court had given the Jammu and Kashmir administration until October 14 to explain how long they intended to keep Mufti in custody.
