Cristiano Ronaldo has tested positive for coronavirus and will be lost Portugalis League of Nations match against Sweden on Wednesday.

“Cristiano Ronaldo was released from the job of the National Team after a positive test for COVID-19, so he will not face Sweden. The Portuguese international is doing well, without symptoms, and in isolation. After the positive case, the rest of the players underwent new tests this Tuesday morning, all with negative results, and they are at the disposal of Fernando Santos to train this afternoon, ”said the Portugal team in a statement.

The Juventus striker, who has been voted the best player in the world five times, played 90 minutes in Portugal’s Nations League goalless draw against France in a 0-0 draw in the friendly against Spain.

The federation said Ronaldo’s result triggered another round of testing for the rest of the Portugal team. He said all the other team members tested negative.

The Portugal team was scheduled to train normally on Tuesday before the game against Sweden in Lisbon.

Ronaldo has scored 101 goals for Portugal and it will be a major absence for his team against Sweden as they aim to stay at the top of their group. Portugal and France lead Group 3 with seven points each after three games.

Now he will have doubts for Juve’s trip to Serie A to Crotone on Saturday and their opening match of the Champions League group stage at Dynamo Kiev next Tuesday.
