It’s natural for a hitter to be upset about being hit by a delivery he was about to crush by a big one, but profanity is definitely not the right reaction.

This is what happened to Royal Challengers of Bangalore opening batter Aaron Finch while facing Kolkata Knight Riders‘all terrain Andre Russell’s delivery in the game against at IPL 2020 on Monday.

Finch couldn’t contain his emotions and uttered, well, something that is not suitable for broadcasting on television.

The incident occurred in the sixth envelope of the first inning, when batter RCB was unable to make contact with the ball thrown by right-arm fast pitcher Russell. On this particular occasion, Russell used a slower, short pitch to outwit Finch, who swung his bat in the air trying to make a great shot but was defeated.

At this point, Finch blurted out “Oh, bas *** d.” His comment was picked up by the microphone placed on the stumps and was broadcast on live television. The commenters couldn’t help but laugh out loud.

However, the comment did not appear to be directed at Russell or anyone else. It was more like venting his frustration at losing the ball. By the way, he was hit again in the next installment, this time the ball hitting the batter’s helmet.

Finch went on to score 47 runs from 37 deliveries and helped his team reach the 194 total. AB de Villiers (73 runs from 33 balls) was the leading scorer for his team. Chasing the target, KKR got off to a bad start and never recovered in the innings as they were restricted to just 112 runs in 20 overs.

While Finch escaped any scrutiny for his actions, he surely would have learned a lesson from this incident and would try to be more careful in the field, or at least near stumps.
