Sunil Narine turned out to be a hero for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in his last two victories, especially against the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP). But all the joy soured shortly after the match, as the reported for suspicion of bowling action Saturday October 10th. Although he’s not yet banned from bowling, Narine has been placed on the warning list and another similar report will see him not bowling for the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) season.

Meanwhile, the franchise has released an official statement on the matter now, stating that the team was shocked to learn about the concern of match officials about Sunil Narine’s bowling action. KKR also noted in the statement that the West Indies player who participated in six games of the season and none of the referees expressed concerns formally or informally with them.

“Mr. Sunil Narine was reported for suspicious action by the referees after KKR’s match against KXIP held on October 10, 2020 in Abu Dhabi. This was a surprise to the franchise and to Narine, considering that he has played more than 115 games in the IPL since 2012 and up to 68 games since 2015, when it was last reported during the IPL season for suspicious action before being fully approved by SRASSC, an ICC-accredited facility.

“Furthermore, he was playing his sixth game this season, with no concerns expressed formally or informally by the referees so far,” the statement read.

KKR in close collaboration with IPL

However, the franchise has also ensured that it will work closely with the officials concerned at the IPL on the matter and will soon obtain resolution of the Sunil Narine bowling action. “With that being said, we respect the process that the IPL has put in place for their action to be reviewed, and we are working closely with the IPL on this matter.

“We are hopeful that there will be a proper resolution quickly. We appreciate the cooperation the IPL is providing to expedite this matter, ”the statement said. Meanwhile, there are question marks about Sunil Narine playing KKR’s upcoming game against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Monday.

Additionally, Andre Russell was also injured in the previous game and they may have to go out onto the field without two of their best foreign players. In that case, Tom Banton and Chris Green are expected to make their IPL and KKR debuts.
