Andhra High Court orders IWC investigation into remarks against judiciary India News

AMARAVATI: Expressing its displeasure at the state CID investigation, the Andhra Pradesh High Court on Monday ordered CBI to investigate alleged derogatory comments made by YSR Congressional leaders on social media against some judges and the judiciary.
A bank, made up of judges Rakesh Kumar and J Uma Devi, ordered the CBI to register an FIR and submit a report in eight weeks.

During the course of the hearing, the court expressed its displeasure at the state Criminal Investigation Department’s (CID) investigation and commented that no cases were filed against the YSRC leaders just to save them.
He ordered the state government to cooperate with the CBI in the investigation.
The high court had taken cognizance of itself after a series of alleged derogatory posts were made on social media platforms against judges and the judiciary following some verdicts that were against the state government.

Following the instructions of the higher court, its secretary general filed a complaint with the CID giving names and related evidence, but the state police wing reportedly only registered nine people.
The court took serious note of comments made by Assembly Speaker Tammineni Sitaram, Deputy Chief Minister Narayana Swamy, MPs V Vijayasai Reddy, Nandigam Suresh, former MLA A Krishna Mohan and other leaders of the ruling YSRC and questioned the CID why there were no cases against him.
“His comments are dangerous for democracy and amounted to an attack on the judiciary. If any ordinary person makes any comment against the government, cases are quickly registered against those people.
When people in charge made comments against judges and courts, why have no cases been brought? Looking at things, we can infer that a war has been declared against the judiciary, “the court commented orally during a hearing last week.
The judges had asked the CID attorney if the speaker made the comments in the assembly or outside.
The lawyer informed the court that the speaker made the comments on Tirumala Hills.
