IPL 2020: Deleted tweet from Mumbai Indians sparks new match-fixing rumors among fans

Match-fixing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) is a very sensitive topic, but fans stumbled heavily on Mumbai Indians (MI) by linking them after their deleted tweet sparked a new ire of controversy on social media. MI defeated Delhi Capitals by 5 wickets in an exciting 2020 IPL meet on Sunday (Oct 11).

However, what caught the eye was the official Twitter name of the Mumbai Indians who posted a tweet citing the final result of the first entry from the Delhi capitals just eight minutes into the clash. What’s more surprising is that the scores were almost identical at the end too.

In their deleted Tweet, MI had predicted that DC will finish 163/5 of their assigned 20 overs, while Delhi’s first entry final score was 162/5.

However, this aforementioned tweet was quickly removed afterwards, but few fans were quick enough to take a screenshot and post it later on their social media.

In chasing a target score of 163, Mumbai got off to a slow start as they lost to Rohit Sharma early on, who left after scoring just 5 runs. Quinton de Kock and Suryakumar Yadav then formed a formidable partnership for MI, as the two kept the score at a decent pace.

De Kock played some excellent shots and pocketed fifty percent of 33 balls before R Ashwin hit for the Capitals and dismissed the goalie-batter for 53. Yadav and Ishan Kishan had a brief resistance for the third wicket but kept pace for order under control.

Suryakumar couldn’t get his half century, but his celebration didn’t last long for the Indian hitter, as Kagiso Rabada fired him in the next installment. The South African pacemaker was in excellent shape on the night when he fired Kishan (28) in his last over of the game.

With 7 they needed for 6 balls, Krunal Pandya (12 *) and Kieron Pollard (11 *) led the Mumbai Indians home with two balls remaining.
