Pointing out the discrimination based on religion and caste faced by people in the country, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday attacked the Yogi Adityanath government, Uttar Pradesh police and citizens for whom the rape victim in group Hathras, a 19-year-old Dalit woman, was “nobody”.
“The shameful truth is that many Indians do not consider Dalits, Muslims and Tribals human. The CM and its police say that no one was raped because to them, and to many other Indians, she was NO ONE, ”Gandhi wrote on Twitter this morning and shared a news report on why the police were denying the rape when the woman repeatedly denounced the situation. assault.
The woman from the Bulgarhi village of Hathras was allegedly raped by four “upper caste” men in early September. She died in a hospital in Delhi later and the next day she was cremated by UP police at 2:30 am, even as her family protested.
State police have denied that the woman was raped, saying her post-mortem report did not confirm the rape and that she claimed she died of a neck injury. Hathras District Magistrate (DM) Praveen Kumar also made similar claims.
“The post-mortem report says the victim died due to his neck injury. The FSL report has found no sperm in the samples, making it clear that some people twisted the matter to stir up tension based on castes. These people will be identified and legal action will be taken, ”ADG Prashant Kumar was quoted as saying by the ANI news agency.
The report has been prepared by the Aligarh Muslim University School of Medicine, where the woman was being treated before being transferred to the Safdarjung hospital in Delhi.
The Central Investigation Office (CBI) has now taken over the gang rape case, which was being investigated by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) set up by the UP government.
Gandhi had previously criticized the UP administration for the case and, while visiting the victim’s family, assured them of support in seeking justice for his daughter. Earlier this week, Gandhi also criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for “not saying a word” about the assault.
“It is interesting that the woman was raped and killed and that the entire UP administration targeted her family, but the prime minister has not said a word on the matter,” he said while speaking to journalists in Punjab.
