Mysuru: Prominent cardiologist Dr. CN Manjunath will have the honor to kick off the Mysuru Dasara festivities on October 17 atop the Chamundi Hills in Mysuru.

The Mysuru Dasara festivities have been reduced this year due to Covid-19 and the famous Jumbo savari, the end of the dasara festivities, has been limited to the Mysuru Palace instead of a 6 km procession.

Manjunath is the son-in-law of secular national president Janata Dal and former prime minister HD Deve Gowda and senior minister BS Yediyurappa chose Mr. Manjunath to inaugurate the dasara festivities.

Cardiologist Manjunath is the director of the Jayadeva Institute for Cardiovascular Research and Sciences, Bengaluru and in recognition of his services in the medical field, he was awarded Padma Shri by the Union Government in 2007. Manjunath also received the Kannada Rajyotsava Prize in 1998 awarded by the Government of Karnataka.

Revealing this to the media here, the District in charge and Minister of Cooperation ST Somashekar said that Manjunath was chosen by order of Mr. Yediyurappa.

Somashekar said that the dasara festivities will be carried out in accordance with the guidelines of the Covid-19 State Technical Committee and the recommendations of the Committee will be strictly followed. A meeting will be held with the Mysuru City Police Commissioner, Chandragupta, and the elected representatives to discuss strict adherence to the Committee’s guidelines.

The Covid-19 State Technical Committee, led by its chairman, Dr. Sudarshan, visited Mysuru Palace and Chamundi Hills on Friday and interacted with interested officials to gather information on how the dasara festivities were carried out. in previous years.
