Chasing 163, the defending champs reviewed the goal with two balls to spare and claimed first place on the points table with five wins in seven games so far.

Shikhar dhawan scored his first half century of the season and shared an 85-run position with skipper Shreyas Iyer (42) to help DC post 162 for four.
DC’s overall competitive appearance proved insufficient against some unsuspecting bats from the Mumbai Indians hitters.
Kieron Pollard (11 out) and Krunal Pandya (12 out) carried IM past the goal line after De Kock and Suryakumar laid the bases with their punches and Ishan Kishan (28 of 15 balls) intervened with a useful cameo.

De Kock’s 53 came off 36 balls with three sixes and four shots to the fence, while Suryakumar took 32 balls for his 53 which was studded with six fours and a six.
After losing Suryakumar and Hardik Pandya (0) in quick succession, MI also lost Kishan towards the end, but there was no story twist.
To your credit, Kagiso rabada (28/2) and Anrich Nortje dragged him to the end with his incisive bowling pin.
DC’s all-rounder Axar Patel, who has made an impact since taking over from Amit Mishra, landed the big shot when he sent back dangerous Rohit Sharma just as he was looking to break out of the shackles.
Rohit was already fighting and it was De Kock who was scoring most of the goals. The South African was in tremendous contact and in no time was up in his fifty with a cap off Harshal Patel.

Suryakumar, who replaced Rohit in the crease, also hit the ball hard and clean from the get-go.
However, Ravichandran Ashwin applied some breaks by inducing a top spike from De Kock, who attempted a sweep and was poked at Prithvi Shaw on the deep square leg.
Suryakumar looked at the ball well but did not respect Rabada enough and paid the price. Similarly, young Kishan should have finished the game himself, but lost his ground by being too aggressive against Rabada.
Previously, Dhawan’s undefeated 69-run hit came off 52 balls with six fours and six, while 33-ball Iyer 42 had five shots to the fence.
Dhawan was given plenty of time to play the role of sheet anchor, even as the IM bowlers did a decent job of slog overs not letting the hitters play too many big shots.
After Shaw (4) was caught early by Trent Boult and Ajinkya Rahane also followed him back in the dug early, there were no free runs for the Capitals early after choosing to hit.
Rahane, who was playing his first game of the season, was caught in front of the wicket by Krunal Pandya, opportunely introduced by IM captain Rohit, considering that the vice captain of the India Test is fighting the left arm spinners.
With Iyer and Dhawan fit in the fold, the limits reached here and there. He kept the score going at a decent pace.
Iyer’s trademark throughout the ground hits, straight bat play, was effective and a joy to watch. Dhawan calmly advanced as the two hitters formed a substantial partnership.
Krunal broke the dais by getting rid of Iyer, who was hiding in Boult in the middle of a deep wicket.
He led Marcus Stonis (13) to the fold. The Australian reached two breaking limits, but was exhausted in a mix-up with Dhawan.
Rohit cleverly used his spinners in the middle and kept Jasprit Bumrah’s quota for the big jobs.
The spin duo of Krunal (2/26) and Rahul Chahar conceded just 53 runs in their eight overs.
