A 16-year-old boy from Mundra in Kutch was detained by the police for allegedly issuing rape threats on Instagram to the daughter of cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni, after his team lost a match at the current Indian Premier Legaue tournament (IPL ). .
According to the police, the action against the minor, a resident of a Mundra village, was taken on the basis of information provided by the Ranchi Police, which is investigating the case.
The problem came to light three days ago, when netizens pointed to comments on social media in which rape threats were issued to Dhoni’s five-year-old daughter, after her team Chennai Super Kings (CSK) lost a match. against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
According to the Kutch Bhuj police, the boy allegedly confessed to posting the threats on his Instagram account.
Speaking to The Indian Express, Saurabh Singh, Police Superintendent, Kutch Bhuj, said: “Ranchi Police are investigating this case. We were informed on Sunday that a defendant who made certain comments on Instagram had been traced to Mundra in Kutch. We picked up the minor today and in our questioning, he confessed to posting those comments after CSK lost a game to KKR. “
Singh said the boy studies in Class 12. “As he is a minor, we cannot arrest or detain him without charge under the Juvenile Justice Act. So we are waiting for the Ranchi police to arrive in Kutch, after which we will hand it over to them. “
