Congress forms Bihar survey committees and Randeep Surjewala will lead key panel

Bihar Election 2020: Randeep Surjewala is Chairman of the Election Management and Coordination Committee.

On Sunday, Congress formed several panels for the upcoming Bihar assembly elections, and the party’s general secretary, Randeep Surjewala, was appointed chairman of the election management and coordination committee.

Mohan Prakash was appointed coordinator of the 14-member electoral management and coordination committee. The panel includes high-level leaders such as Meira Kumar, Tariq Anwar, Shatrughan Sinha, Kirti Azad, Shakeel Ahmed, and Sanjay Nirupam.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi also approved the creation of the publicity committee, the media coordination committee, the logistics and public meetings committee, the legal committee and the office administration committee for the Bihar elections, according to a party statement.

Subodh Kumar has been appointed as the coordinator of the publicity committee, while Jaeya Mishra was appointed as co-chair of the panel.

Congressional spokesperson Pawan Khera has been appointed chair of the media coordination committee for the elections, while Prem Chand Mishra will be the coordinator and Rajesh Rathor co-chair of the panel.

Brijesh Kumar Munan has been appointed coordinator of the logistics and public meetings committee, while Varun Chopra has been appointed chair of the legal committee.

The management committee of the party office includes the likes of Ashok Kumar and Kaukab Quadri.

Congress is challenging the Bihar assembly elections as part of the Grand Alliance. Under a formula for allocating seats for the next assembly elections, Congress will contest 70 of a total of 243 seats.

The Bihar assembly elections will be held in three phases on October 28, November 3 and November 7, with the vote counting taking place on November 10.
