“The shameful truth is that Dalits, Muslims and Tribals are not considered human by many Indians,” the former Congress Speaker tweeted.
Former Congress Speaker Rahul Gandhi said Sunday that Uttar Pradesh Prime Minister Yogi Adityanath and state police denied that the 19-year-old victim in the Hathras gang rape and murder case had been raped because ” he was nobody “to them.
Mr. Gandhi was responding to a news report that Uttar Pradesh police denied that the victim had been raped, when he tweeted: “The shameful truth is that many Indians do not consider Dalits, Muslims and Tribals to be human. The CM and its police say that no one was raped because for them, and many other Indians, she was NOBODY. (sic)”.
The young Dalit was sexually assaulted by four men in her village last month. He succumbed to his injuries two weeks later in a Delhi hospital.
