Relatives of a priest, who died from burns after being attacked by a group of people over a land dispute in a village in Rajasthan on Thursday night, have refused to perform the last rites of his body until all your demands are satisfied by the state government.

“We will not perform the last rites of the body until our demands are met. We want compensation of 50 lakhs of rupees and a job in the government. All defendants must be arrested and action must be taken against the Patwari (tax official ) and the police who are supporting the accused. We want protection, “Lalit, a relative of priest Babulal, told ANI.

Meanwhile, Subdivisional Magistrate (SDM) Om Prakash Meena came to Babulal village to request the family to perform the last rites.

“The people gathered for their last rites. They have made some demands on the administration and the state government. We are requesting the priest’s family to perform the last rites since two days have passed since the death,” the official said.

The temple priest died from his injuries on Thursday night after some people allegedly burned him alive for the invasion of temple lands in Bukna village in Sapotra, Karauli district.

Police arrested the main defendant, Kailash Meena, in connection with the incident.
