The campaign, launched through a series of tweets with the hashtag # Unite2FightCorona, garnered massive support on social media, including endorsements from Bollywood celebrities such as Salman Khan, Shankar Mahadevan, Kriti Sanon, and Kangana Ranaut.
The campaign was launched in view of the upcoming festivals and the winter season, as well as the opening of the economy, the PMO said in a statement. Its aim is to be a low-cost, high-intensity campaign with the key messages of ‘wear a mask, follow physical distancing and maintain hand hygiene’. The government also plans to implement a concerted action plan together with the state governments and the Union Territories.
