The accident took place at a go-kart venue in Hyderabad’s Gurram Guda.
Sri Varshini and his friends went karting Wednesday night at a playground in Gurram Guda in Hyderabad. In a video that has now appeared, one of the friends can be heard introducing the others as they settle into their karts. The video shows them driving ahead, one after the other, as the operator starts the kart’s engine. About two and a half minutes after the video, someone can be heard raising an alarm and yelling from the circuit.
The concerned woman who records the video then runs to the circuit to find out what happened. There the video ends abruptly. When everyone rushed to the scene, they realized that Sri Varshini’s helmet had come off and his hair had gotten tangled in the rim of the kart. Immediately, her friends took her to a nearby hospital. The incident occurred around 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Speaking to TNM, Meerpet Inspector M Mahender Reddy confirmed that the young student had succumbed to her injuries around 4 p.m. Thursday. He said: “It was this morning that a written complaint was filed at the Meerpet Police Station. The woman was wearing a helmet, but it appears that it came off halfway through and her hair got tangled with the kart tire. We immediately filed an FIR and launched an investigation. Now that it has succumbed, the sections under which the case was registered will change. ”
The engineering student’s parents have alleged that their daughter died due to the negligence of the go-kart organizers.
