“We were friendly with Hathra’s victim, we used to talk to her on the phone” 4 defendants send letter claiming innocence: The Tribune India


Hathras (Uttar Pradesh), October 8

All four defendants in the Hathras incident have written a letter to Police Superintendent Vineet Jaiswal, claiming they are innocent.

In the handwritten letter, the four defendants, Sandeep, Ramu, Ravi and Lavkush, have admitted that they were friendly with the victim and that they often spoke with her on the phone.

They said the girl’s family was not happy with their friendship.

They also said that none of them were at the place where the girl was beaten.

On the day of the incident, the defendant admitted to having met the girl but said they left the place when her mother and brother objected.

They said they later learned that the girl had been beaten by her mother and brother for meeting with the accused.

The defendants have stated that the girl’s family has wrongly incriminated them and have requested justice in this regard.

All four defendants have put their thumb prints at the end of the letter.
