Before college admissions, the College Scholarship Commission (UGC) has published the latest list of fake colleges. A total of 24 universities have made the list. Most of the “fake” or unrecognized universities on the recently published list are from Uttar Pradesh (UP), followed by Delhi.
Warning students, the UGC said: “A degree can be awarded, only a university established under a central, state / provisional law or an institution considered university.” In addition, he said: “Students and the general public are informed that, at present, the following 24 self-proclaimed and unrecognized institutions are operating in contravention of the UGC Law, which have been declared as bogus universities,” the notice read official.

From the Indian Institute of Alternative Medicine to the Indian Institute of Science and Engineering, the UGC has called various institutes bogus with names similar to those of premium education institutes. The UGC publishes a list of fake institutes annually.

Even when UGC had directed the top secretaries and other respected officials of the states to take appropriate action against fake universities, several universities had also been mentioned in last year’s list.
