Police try to incriminate us with CDR claim, say the brothers of the girl Hathras | India News

HATHRAS: The 19-year-old Dalit girl’s family in Hathras denied being in contact with the man accused of raping and murdering her, and questioned the veracity of alleged call detail records (CDRs) showing 100 calls between them in five months .
“It’s a conspiracy against us,” the victim’s older brother, to whom the calls are attributed, said Wednesday. “Assassins are cunning. They can do anything to save themselves.” He said that the SIM card had first been purchased for his father 10 years ago. “But he kept losing his phone. So, I used my ID to register the SIM in my name. The phone is always kept at home. Everyone has that number, even the pradhan. It’s the only one we have.”
He said it was mainly his father who used the phone. But he denied having contacted the main defendant, Sandeep, whose family lives across the street from the victim’s home.
The victim’s younger brother, who works in Ghaziabad, said he would like to have proof of the claim. “The UP police are trying to incriminate us because we are poor. Our harassment has no end … If they have records, they should have evidence. I would like to hear recordings of calls.” CDR documents the time, duration, location, and destination number of calls made from a number.
“The police are participating in the murder of characters. My sister was under our supervision at all times. I have no doubts about her,” said the older brother of the victim. The younger brother, discarding talking about her having called the defendant, added: “She was illiterate. She didn’t know how to dial a number. She could only receive calls.
