IPL 2020: Rajasthan Royals captain Steve Smith fined 12 lakh rupees for this infraction | Cricket news

Rajasthan Royals captain Steve Smith was fined hefty Rs 12 lakh for maintaining a slowdown rate during the 2020 Indian Premier League (IPL) showdown of the Rajasthan Royals against the Mumbai Indians on Tuesday (6 of October).

Smith was punished after the Rajasthan Royals failed to complete their quota of 20 overs on time. Since this was the Rajasthan Royals’ first overpricing offense in IPL 2020, skipper Smith was fined Rs 12 lakh.

“As it was his team’s first offense of the season under the IPL Code of Conduct related to minimal overstatement offenses, Mr. Smith was fined 12 lakh rupees,” an IPL press release stated.

The defending champions the Mumbai Indians beat the Rajasthan Royals by 57 runs at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday. With this victory, the Mumbai Indians rose to the top of the points table with four wins in six matches.

It was a complete show of the Mumbai Indians players that propelled them to great victory. Jasprit Bumrah with the ball and Suryakumar Yadav (79 of 47 balls; 4×11, 6×2) with the bat were the star performers for Mumbai.

Chasing Mumbai ‘s whopping 193 total, the Rajasthan Royals folded for a meager 136 in 18.1 overs. Other than Jos Buttler’s 70s (44-ball; 4×4, 6×5), no other hitter really put up a fight.

With the convincing victory, the Mumbai Indians ended their four-game losing streak against the Rajasthan Royals and now look like the favorites for the title.
