Rajasthan Royals captain Steven Smith has been fined after his team maintained a slow excessive rate during their 2020 Dream11 Indian Premier League (IPL) match against the Mumbai Indians in Abu Dhabi on October 6, 2020.
As it was his team’s first offense of the season under the IPL Code of Conduct related to minimal overstatement offenses, Mr. Smith was fined 12 lakh rupees.
The Royals lost to the Mumbai Indians by 57 runs pitched for 136 in a 194 chase. Smith could only handle a score of six and it was one of four wickets Jasprit Bumrah took.

With four points from five games, the Royals are seventh on the points table. Their next match is against Delhi Capitals on October 9.
The defending champs now have eight points from six games and a net running rate of +1,488.

Meanwhile, the loss saw Rajasthan slide to seventh on the points table, having four points from five games.
In particular, Delhi Capitals, who beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 59 runs on Monday, are now second in points tally. They have won four of their five games so far and have 8 points in their kitty.
DC is followed by RCB, which despite losing on Monday, remained in third place.
The Kolkata Knight Riders are fourth, while the Chennai Super Kings, who defeated Kings XI Punjab by 10 wickets on Sunday, are in fifth place.
Sunrisers Hyderabad is sixth in the point count, while KXIP is at the bottom of the table.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma scored 35 of 23 balls against the Rajasthan Royals on Tuesday to return to the top 5 on the Orange Cap tally. The 33-year-old hitter is currently fourth on the 2020 IPL’s list of leading run scorers.
Rohit has so far scored 211 runs in six games with a strike rate of 145.51.
Meanwhile, Kings XI Punjab captain KL Rahul is at the top of Orange Cap’s rankings after scoring 302 runs in five games with an average of 75.50 and a strike rate of 141.78. Rahul has also wrecked a century and two fifties in IPL 2020 so far.
CSK starter Faf du Plessis is second on the tally. The South African has 282 runs in his kitty, including three fifty.
In particular, Rahul’s teammate Mayank Agarwal has slipped to third on the tally after he was fired for just 26 runs against Chennai on Sunday.
DC captain Shreyas Iyer is fifth with 181 runs to his name in five games.

On the other hand, Mumbai Indians pacemaker Trent Boult moved to second place on the highest list of ground bearers when he bagged two wickets against Rajasthan Royals on Tuesday.
Boult eliminated Yashasvi Jaiswal in the first over of RR’s innings and then sent Royals star batter Sanju Samson back to the pavilion.
Overall, the New Zealand pacemaker has cliched 10 wickets in IPL 2020 so far, at an economy rate of 7.79 and a strike rate of 10.00.
Interestingly, another IM pacemaker made progress on the tally when Jasprit Bumrah entered the top five after choosing four wickets against RR on Tuesday. The 26-year-old currently ranks third on the Purple Cap list.
Delhi Capitals pacemaker Kagiso Rabada, meanwhile, rises to the top of the top ground carrier list after pocketing four wickets against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Sunday.
Rabada eliminated RCB captain Virat Kohli, Washington Sundar, Shivam Dube and Isuru Udana in the match.
The South African now has 12 wickets to his name in five games and an economy rating of 7.61.
Notably, RCB spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has now slipped into fourth place with eight wickets in his kitty.
Chahal is followed by IM pacemaker James Pattinson, who pocketed two wickets against RR in his last game.
