As the trailer for season 2 of the popular Mirzapur web series was released today, people on Twitter have started boycotting it even before the series launched. The reason apparently is one of the main actors of the web series, Ali Fazal. Fazal had supported the violent protests against the CAA that ultimately culminated in the horrific anti-Hindu riots in northeast Delhi. He had posted a tweet about the CAA riots saying he was enjoying it all.
He had later deleted the tweet. Recalling Fazal’s position on the violent protests against the CAA, one Twitter said that people shouldn’t pay to watch his Mirzapur season 2 web series.

Another Twitter user said that both Fazal and another main actor in the series, Vikrant Massey, had spoken out against India and therefore people should not watch Mirzapur.
I liked Mirzapur, but what happened next is not good for us. Drivers like @ alifazal9 and Vikrant Massey spoke out against India.
If we look at Mirzapur 2, it would be a bad sign. pic.twitter.com/usLxXUvoP7

Several Bollywood celebrities had come out in support of the months-long anti-CAA protests in Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh and led to the horrific riots in northeast Delhi that rocked the national capital.
