In demanding the immediate removal of Uttar Pradesh Prime Minister Yogi Adityanath, Congress on Tuesday accused the state government of trying to “cover up” the Hathras rape incident through an affidavit in the Supreme Court.
The opposition party also claimed that the affidavit appeared to be a “copy and paste” job given that it has references to the New York Police Department (NYPD), “Black Lives Matter” and cities like San Diego and Phoenix, which are located in the USA.

In a joint press conference, Congressional leaders Sushmita Dev, Rajani Patil and Supriya Shrinate said that the entire country has seen the way the Uttar Pradesh government has handled the Hathras incident and done injustices to the victim one and again.
They demanded that all officers, including the Hathras district magistrate, be fired, claiming they are part of a conspiracy to cover up the case.
“Every step the Uttar Pradesh government took was to cover up the Hathras incident. Today, this has been exposed in the affidavit. Its purpose is not a court-supervised CBI investigation, but to cover up the incident that started on September 14, ”Dev told reporters at the Congress headquarters in Delhi.
Hold the lid. The Congress party is upholding its demand that Yogi Adityanath be removed immediately. The district magistrate and all the officers who are part of this conspiracy to silence such a brutal rape case should be dismissed and should not be given any other responsibility pending investigation, ”he said.
Patil claimed that the act of covering up the incident by the Uttar Pradesh government is “shameful” and urged people not to allow any atrocity against women and to pack the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) into the state.
Shrinate said there is no official notification for a CBI investigation into the Hathras incident as announced by the government while the SIT investigation is active.
“The way the victim is shamed as part of a conspiracy and controlled by the BJP, the government and the police, there should be an investigation into it,” he said.
Shrinate also cited the change in rape laws made by the UPA government to the effect that “the presence of semen or penetration is not necessary now” and even an attempt is considered rape.
She alleged that the state government is trying to turn it into an international conspiracy case through “fabricated evidence” and perpetrating caste violence.
Shrinate read certain parts of the affidavit that mention black people and cities like San Diego and Phoenix, which are located in the United States. The NYPD and ‘Black Lives Matter’ are also mentioned, she added.
Shrinate said that the same evidence attached as exhibits to the affidavit has been “fabricated” by the Uttar Pradesh government and has been copied from the “Black Lives Movement in the United States.”
“It is happening while all the media and the opposition are asking questions and the government is talking about a cover-up and an international conspiracy. Stop those FIRs based on these concoctions, ”he said.
Dev asked the Uttar Pradesh government to prove to the victim’s family that the body hastily cremated by the police at 2.30am is actually his daughter’s.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi should immediately fire Yogi Adityanath,” he demanded.
Mahila’s head of Congress claimed that it is “shameful” that the state government claims that there was no rape and that her last rites were performed in front of the family with the appropriate rituals.
“This is a clear case of contempt of court,” he said.
Dev said the government has cited reports saying there are no signs to suggest rape, but that the teen in her death statement stated that she was gang-raped.
