Delhi Capitals spinner Ravichandran Ashwin made headlines again on Monday, but this time not for ‘Mankading’ opener Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Aaron Finch, leaving him with only one warning in the first over of his spell. Ashwin has been very loud against batters trying to steal yards by leaving the box even before the ball is thrown. However, after the game, the spinner took to Twitter to make it clear that his move should serve as the “first and last warning for 2020” and no one should blame him afterward.
On a lighter note, Ashwin, in his tweet, also mentioned that despite what happened in between, he, Ricky Ponting, and Aaron Finch are still “good friends.”
“Let’s make it clear! First and last warning for 2020. I’ll make it official and don’t blame me later. @RickyPonting #runout #nonstriker @ AaronFinch5 and I are good friends by the way. # IPL2020,” Ashwin tweeted.

Ashwin, who was the captain of Kings XI Punjab last year, caused a storm with Jos Buttler of ‘Mankading’ Rajasthan Royals during an IPL game.
Before the start of the tournament, Delhi Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting had said that none of his players will be allowed to affect the controversial firing mode saying “it is not in the spirit of the game”.
After that, Ashwin and Ponting had a discussion about the matter, and they both agreed that batters stealing yards is “basically cheating.”

So Ashwin’s move during Monday’s game can be tied to the conversation he had with Ponting. With this move, he has somehow kept his coach’s word and made his position clear as well.
As for his bowling alley, Ashwin threw brilliantly and provided his team with the first breakthrough, discarding RCB-shaped starter Devdutt Padikkal cheaply in the final delivery of his first over. He returned 1/26 in his four overs.
