Patna: The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) released its first list of candidates on Monday (October 5), sources said. The party also assigned symbols to the candidates at Rabri Devi’s residence. The event was attended by top party leaders, including Manoj Jha.

RJD has released the names of 15 candidates. Following the dynastic principle, RJD has given tickets to second-generation leaders such as Rahul Tiwari, son of party veteran Shivanand Tiwary and Sudhakar Singh, son of RJD State President Jagadanand Singh. They will compete from Shahpur and Ramgarh, respectively.

According to sources, the former minister and Jamui MLA Vijay Prakash will again compete as the RJD candidate in the next elections.

The list of some other candidates includes – Anita Devi from Nokha, W Singh from Naveenagar, Surendra Yadav from Bela, Siddri Devi from Chakai, Sudha Yadav from Jehanabad. RJD has deployed Ramvishun Singh Lohia from Jagdishpur, Subedar Das from Makhdumpur, Ramdev Yadav from Belhar, Rajendra Yadav from Jhajha.

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav has been endorsed as the face of the multi-party coalition and unanimously chosen as the main ministerial candidate of the opposition alliance in the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections, Congress announced on Saturday (October 3).

Under the seat-sharing agreement agreed by the alliance partners ahead of the three-phase elections that will begin on October 28, RJD will compete for 144 seats, while Congress will compete for 70 seats.

In particular, the 70 seats that have been awarded to Congress are almost double the ones it had contested in the 2015 assembly elections in alliance with the RJD and JD (U) of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

The first phase of the elections in Bihar will be held on October 28. The second and third phase of the elections will be held on November 3 and 7. Of the 243 constituencies, 71 will go to the polls in the first phase, a nomination request that takes place between October 1 and October 8.
