Virat Kohli saw enough in CSK’s game to make his decision in the draw. You really can’t blame him after CSK achieved such uplifting 10 wicket winlast night.

TOSS: RCB wins, chooses to go bowling. Adam Zampa retires due to illness, Moeen Ali replaces him. Mohammad Siraj replaces Gurkeerat Singh Mann. DC selects Axar Patel to replace the injured Amit Mishra.

Teams

RCB: Devdutt Padikkal, Aaron Finch, Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Shivam Dube, Moeen Ali, Washington Sundar, Isuru Udana, Navdeep Saini, Mohammad Siraj, Yuzvendra Chahal

Questions before tonight’s game …

Prithvi Shaw did not field in the last game. So could we get our first glimpse of Ajinkya Rahane at this IPL? The 3820 IPL runs …

– Could RCB be tempted to bring Dale Steyn back considering that Deepak Chahar and Bhuvneshwar Kumar had the ball to swing in Dubai?

JERSEY UPDATE …

If you see DC in a different looking T-shirt, don’t panic or worry … it’s all part of a plan, apparently.

It’s still early, but is there a lot at stake in today’s game for RCB?

Then there is no pressure, Delhi …

LATEST NEWS for you …

Amit Mishra is outside IPL 2020, which means that Axar Patel is likely to return to XI tonight.

Two very open dressing rooms?

The only good thing about these two teams, other than the cricket they have played this season, is that they have chosen to give the outside world a glimpse into their inner sanctuary through analysis videos and post-match speeches. I’m not going to reveal any spoilers and let you see for yourself …

Capitals of Delhi

Places change, conditions change, but Kagiso Rabada is still the cool operator this franchise spent good money on. The South African crushed KXIP in the Super Over and is top set on the bearer list. Captain Shreyas Iyer has also been between races, scoring 170 in 4 games.

Devdutt Padikkal has been a revelation at the top of the order. Management took a chance on the 20-year-old, put Parthiv Patel’s experience on the bench and made huge profits. Here is the the young man’s story, through the words of his parents and coach.

Yuzvendra Chahal has taken delight in not having to bowl at Chinnaswamy and has worked particularly well on her mistakes. Here is a detailed explainer about that aspect of his game.

Prelude: early risers aim for fourth win

We are 18 games down and the 19th offers two teams a chance to reach half the magic number of eight wins, often considered good enough to secure playoff qualification.

The capitals of Delhi have had an interesting season so far. They began snatching victory from the jaws of defeat when KXIP fluffed their lines with just 1 to get 2 balls, allowing them to reach Super Over. They then humiliated the Chennai Super Kings by not allowing their spinners to settle. They looked faded in their only loss, to SRH, before following Sharjah’s roster and doing enough to defend their 228/4.

Meanwhile, the Royal Challengers Bangalore have been a breath of fresh air, if you’re a fan of RCB. They held their nerve under pressure to defend a total against SRH, giving their opponents one of the worst eight-wicket collapses seen in the league. A 97-run loss to KXIP felt their old bad habits were on the rise again, but they quickly recovered.

Their win over MI shouldn’t have gone to the Super Over, but it did and they still emerged with both points under their belt, before displaying promising tactical talent. as Kaushik explains here – that should keep them in a good position going forward this season.
