Pune: Vedang Dhirendra Asgaonkar is on top of the world and for good reason. It has topped the JEE Advanced 2020 with a rank 7 from All India in the exam. With the dream of joining IIT Bombay, Vedang began her journey at a young age. It took hard work and dedication! Such was his determination that he stayed away from social networks. The son of an engineer father and mother of an organic chemistry teacher, Vedang was always interested in science and mathematics. However, it was after his success in the Homi Baba Science Olympiad that he won a gold medal in Class 6 that he decided to become an Engineer. From there, Vedang committed to his dream of cracking JEE Advanced and finding a place at IIT Bombay. But it was not easy.
“From Class 8, I started with a focused approach to deciphering JEE Advanced. Then the coaching started from Class 11. Since Class 12, I dedicated 14 hours a day to my studies. The hours of training were extra, ”shared a jubilant Vedang. Now he hopes to start studying Computer Science at IIT Bombay.

Vedang is an only child and has been a deserving student throughout. In his Class 12, which he completed this year, he scored 97.2 percent on CBSE Councils, with 99 out of 100 in Math. It had also topped the Maharashtra State JEE Main 2020 exam with a 99.997th percentile and All India ranked 52nd on the exam. He had not taken the main JEE exam in September due to a pandemic.
“The pandemic has been both good and bad for me. I was able to spend more time on my weak areas. But there were also times when it got disturbing. My teachers and parents helped me and kept me motivated during the lockdown! “shared about the five-month confinement and the coronavirus pandemic.
As for his mantra for success, he says there is no parallel with hard work. “Hard work and passion to get a good score on JEE Advanced and get into my dream university, which is IIT Bombay, was the main reason for my success,” says Vedang.
Vedang conducted an intensive program in the classroom of the FIITJEE Punjabi Bagh center. It also relied heavily on self-study. Sharing his happiness, he added: “I feel euphoric for having achieved AIR 7, and the credit goes to my parents, teachers and my elders for supporting me and believing in me. They helped me in my efforts and brought out the best in me. My message for future aspirants it would be to remain calm and composed, focus on the task at hand, work on it with heart and soul, and the best will happen.
The JEE Advanced 2020 results were declared today. Of the top 10, 4 students are from IIT Bombay Zone. JEE Advanced AIR 1 – Chirag Falor is also from Pune.
