Named successor to MS Dhoni, young Rishabh Pant celebrates his birthday today (October 4). The 23-year-old burst onto the scene quite early and made a mark.

From having a successful season in the Indian Premier League (IPL) to being a part of the Indian team, Pant made sure everyone knew about him. While on the one hand he helped his IPL Delhi Capitals (DC) franchise win matches, on the other hand his form with Team India was a see-saw.

While many cricket fans surely remember him for his inconsistent form, there’s one thing everyone knows about Pant – it’s that he talks behind stumps.

Pant is so talkative while holding the window that there are some cases that have been caught by the stump mic.

Tim Paine and Rishabh Pant were heard having a hilarious joke during the India test tour of Australia in 2018-19.

Paine had trolled Pant for not being selected in the Indian squads for the ODIs against Australia and New Zealand on Friday when the latter was hitting.

Pant made sure to return the favor when Paine got in at bat. On day 4 of the third test, Paine made the fold with Australia reeling at 135/5.

Pant in his talk from behind the stumps shot the Australian calling him ‘a temporary captain’ and ‘a special guest’.

The jokes began immediately after Paine’s arrival at the fold. “Have you ever heard of the temporary captain? I’m seeing one,” Pant said.

He could also be heard asking the bowler “to do nothing to get him out, just bowling.”

On the 3rd, Paine welcomed Pant into the fold saying, “I’ll tell you what great MS is back on the team one day. I should take this guy to Hurricanes … They need a hitter. “

He even said, “Do you babysit? I can take my wife to the movies while you watch the children. “

Rishabh Pant had a shot at Nathan Lyon towards the end of Day 4 of the Boxing Day Test. Pant tried to drag Lyon from behind a bit to break their concentration and help the players overcome their defense.

At the turn of the 80 when Jadeja was playing bowling, Pant had an opportunity in Lyon, which was captured by the microphone of the stump.

“Come on Gary. You don’t want to come tomorrow for nothing,” Pant told Lyon. The spinner in response just laughed and said, “I can’t even understand what you’re saying, buddy.”

Then he turned around and said, “I like you too Rishabh.”

Rishabh Pant was caught in the eye of a storm due to an edited stump mic clip from a 2019 IPL game.

The less than a minute clip was from the match between Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

It shows Pant, behind the stumps, saying “yeh chauka hai”(This is a limit) when KKR’s Robin Uthappa went on guard against Sandeep Lamichhane.

The next installment was pushed through the covers for a cap and the edited clip of Pant’s alleged prediction began circulating from unverified Twitter accounts, claiming to be cricket fans.

However, it was dismissed by the BCCI. “No one heard what Rishabh said before that particular prayer. Apparently he was telling (Delhi Capitals captain) Shreyas Iyer to increase offside players to stop four imminent, ”said a senior BCCI official.

Rohit Sharma became frustrated with his teammate Rishabh Pant during India’s ODI second victory over the West Indies in Visakhapatnam on December 18.

In ’33, India had a golden opportunity to knock out Jason Holder, who formed a decent partnership with starter Shai Hope.

Rohit was very angry after the India southpaw threw the ball towards the end of the non-forward, rather than his end.

Pant squandered the opportunity by throwing the ball to Kuldeep Yadav instead of throwing it to Rohit and after missing the opportunity the Indian team starter used some bad words which were picked up by the stump mic.

Are idhar de na..wo..bhe * ch ** aadhe raste pe hai yaar, ”Rohit was heard saying to Pant during the match.

That failure didn’t cost India as much though, as Kuldeep Yadav scored a hat-trick against the Windies in the final three installments of his 33rd over.

Not many, but people did hear Rishabh Pant speak to Hardik Pandya on his 2019 World Cup debut against England.

Pant at 38 said “darr lag raha hai“to Pandya, whose comment was caught on the stump mic.

Pant’s hitting tackle also caught everyone’s attention as he tried to run for every shot he made. In the first three balls he faces, Pant nearly missed the start three times.
