Noida police have launched an investigation into the mistreatment of the leader of Congress, Priyanka Gandhi, when she and members of her party were briefly prevented from crossing the DND overpass on their way to Hathras on Saturday.

When their car was stopped and the party workers gathered around, the police pushed some of them back and also beat some with batons. When Priyanka got out of her car and tried to protect some workers, a police officer pushed her and grabbed her kurta during the incident.

Eventually both Rahul and Priyanka were allowed to go to Hathras to meet the victim’s family along with five other people.

“The Noida police deeply regret the incident with Priyanka Gandhi while she was managing a rebellious crowd in the DND. DCP headquarters have learned of this and ordered a superior officer to carry out an investigation. The Noida Police are committed to ensuring the safety and dignity of women, ”Noida Police said in a statement.
