Mumbai:
A special NDPS court here on Saturday referred Kshitij Ravi Prasad, a former Dharmatic Entertainment executive producer arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in the Bollywood drug case, to court.
custody until October 6.
Prasad was arrested by the NCB after being questioned in the drug case linked to the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
The NCB had previously told the court that Mr. Prasad had acquired drugs from another defendant, Karmjeet, and his associates.
“Prasad was brought before the special court for the Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) on Saturday at the expiration of his NCB custody. The court put him in pre-trial detention until October 6,” said special prosecutor Atul Sarpande.
The agency had previously arrested the late Sushant Rajput’s actor and girlfriend, Rhea Chakraborty, his brother Showik and others in connection with the Bollywood drug investigation.
The CBI is separately investigating the Sushant Rajput death case, in which the Bihar police registered Chakrabortys on the charge of complicity in suicide.
Prasad’s lawyer, Satish Maneshinde, had previously told the court that NCB officials harassed and blackmailed the defendant into making a statement against filmmaker Karan Johar.
The agency had denied the allegations.
